9: Nesha Woolery: Balance, Travel and Systems
This conversation is with one of my really good friends – Nesha Woolery. Nesha teaches service-based online solopreneurs how to organize and simplify their business, so they can earn more money by doing less stuff. She teaches how to start thriving online businesses, so you can live anywhere in the world, and get paid to do something you actually love, and finally live the life of your dreams.
Nesha is such a beautiful generous soul, has such a kind energy around her, but she’s also great at what she does. And just watching her Instagram on her travels, while having this beautiful business is really inspiring. But we’re also going to dive into the challenges of what she’s gone through while building her business.
Many people will start a business, start getting clients and think to themselves “this is it, I’m living the dream!” Then they encounter all the stress that comes with being a business owner and running a business, and they realize that it’s not so dreamy after all. This is where Nesha comes in. She helps business owners to organize their business and streamline it so that they can live that life of their dreams, have their business, but actually really enjoy it and not be super stress about it. It all comes down to how your business makes you feel, because you could make all the money in the world and hit all of the income goals in the world but if your business makes you feel like crap, and it makes you feel burned out overwhelmed and unfulfilled, then what’s the point?
- The first thing to pay attention to is your mindset. Sometimes business owners are in the mindset of: I have to work really hard to earn money or earning a good living needs to be hard. The first difference in business owners who don’t burn out and those who do – it’s just that mindset. Just knowing that you don’t have to work hard in order to be successful.
- The second thing to pay attention to is the practicalities. So many people will put off organizing their business or automating it, hiring a virtual assistant. Because, let’s face it – it’s the more boring side of the business. Soon however, you will reach that point where you are suddenly burned out and stressed out and just hating your business. And at the end of the day, if you’re making tons of money but feeling like crap, it’s just not worth it.

“You don’t have to completely reinvent the wheel and stress yourself out and spend tons of time trying to piece together free blog posts and free podcast episodes and all the different things and just overwhelm yourself with all of that.“
– Nesha Woolery
But it really doesn’t take that long – just find systems that other people have created and copy them, because you don’t have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to stuff like this and it really doesn’t have to take that long. Go and find someone who teaches about systems and organization, and teaches a framework that you can just quickly and easily comprehend.
You don’t have to completely reinvent the wheel and stress yourself out and spend tons of time trying to piece together free blog posts and free podcast episodes and all the different things and just overwhelm yourself with all of that. It’s important to find other people who’ve already achieved the thing that you want to achieve and can help you do it more easily and more quickly.
If you create a business solely based around a specific thing or service because you know it’s profitable, and it will make money, but you’re not truly passionate about it and you don’t truly love, you can make money doing that.
But can you scale that? And will you want to scale that? Most likely not. When you are truly aligned with what you’re teaching, with what you are offering, and with what your business message is, it just shines through in everything that you do and you end up making more money and achieving more success. Everyone can see how excited you are about the thing that you are teaching and everyone can like feel that you truly believe in your message and what you’re helping people do. It’s definitely possible to find something that does make you money and is profitable, and you’re so excited about.
Another big question when it comes to your business is “will your business still work if you’re not working?”
You can’t be working in your business all the time, there are going to be times in your life where you just really need to step away and it could be for weeks and it could be for months. And it doesn’t have to go from 0 to 100 the next week, but just start looking at can you document a process that you do, can you hire a VA, can you invest in a tool that automates something for you, etc.
Look at your income goal this week, and ask yourself why do you want to make that money, what is your purpose behind this? Because money and the desire for it will only take you so far with your business, but it’s the bigger “why”, it’s the thing behind that that fuels you, that will keep you growing and scaling your business.
Love + magic,
Maggie
