In March 2016, I had no clients. I was working 90 to 100 hours a week. I was miserable. This all led to a long Emergency Room visit, five doctors, and a diagnosis of ‘stress’.
Nine months later, I was booked out with clients, happy and healthy. Rollercoaster of a year? Maybe. Doable and worth it? Definitely.
This did not involve a magic potion. There isn’t a shortcut. This isn’t a promise. But I did it, which means so can you. This isn't a magic potion. There isn’t a shortcut. But Maggie did it, which means so can you. Click To Tweet
The closest to a shortcut we’ll get is by me telling you about the three things that helped me with this (not-so-overnight) transformation and how you can start working on it too.
There are many things you could and SHOULD be working on to reach the next level in your business however in order to avoid burnout (which is why we are all here!), we will start with the three main changes that really changed my business for the better.
First, I started doing true market research. I spoke to who I believe were my dream clients and interviewed them. It may sound like a cliche but without knowing who you’re selling your services or products to and TRULY figuring out what they want – you are looking to be one of the *enter scary percentage here* of the businesses that fail in the first year. This process is probably the most transformative and I cannot recommend it enough. More about this process and how to do it yourself to grow your business in video 1.
Then, I looked into my positioning. What I do – digital strategy – has not really changed since I started my business, but how I speak about it, how I package it up, and my communication about it has changed drastically. I started adding more of my own personality to my business, and I started getting noticed. People started remembering who I was. Letting your personality shine helps you connect with your dream clients – people who get you. You’ll find this process in video 2.Letting your personality shine helps you connect with your dream clients - people who get you. Click To Tweet
Last, I stepped away from the marketing I had been told to do – namely, posting daily in Facebook groups and trying to entice people from there on to free calls with me – ick! You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. I explored my strengths and weaknesses, and worked on figuring out High Impact Marketing. You will learn how to master this in video 3.You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. Click To Tweet
You will want to watch these videos in order, because that’s the step by step process you need to go through to replicate my success. Each piece builds on the next – we will go from discovering your dream client to showing up authentically. And finally putting yourself out there in a way that feels good to you AND helps your business grow.
Don’t get burnt out.
