20: Covid-19: Energy, Anxiety and Productivity – When The World’s Gone Crazy
We are in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and I want to discuss some of the issues that can come up for you as an entrepreneur and as a human with anxiety, with productivity, with mental health.
With Covid-19 and in the current crisis we are in, I’ve been having a lot of conversations with business friends and with a lot of my clients and noticing things with myself as well, where I have very sharp dips and spikes of energy. So, it’s been very difficult to plan things, because my energy has been very unpredictable. Now, my theory about this is that as entrepreneurs we are facing more uncertainty than a lot of people. My friends who are working in corporate, have been saying to me that they are much more productive than usual; everything’s good; they’re really enjoying this time at home. And all my entrepreneur friends have had the opposite. Everyone is now in a state of uncertainty. We’re scared for our families; we’re scared for humanity and things are changing basically every single day.
A couple things I’ve been doing to deal with this are first recognizing it and having conversations with people to realize it’s not just me. I’m not crazy; there’s nothing wrong with me; I’m not a loss of human being because I am not doing all things like everyone else is.
The second thing is realizing that this is not necessarily the time where we all have to be super productive. This is not the time that you have to write a book or get super fit or to create something extraordinary or learn a new skill. You can if you want to, but you don’t have to put that pressure on yourself.

“This is not the time that you have to write a book or get super fit or to create something extraordinary or learn a new skill. You can if you want to, but you don’t have to put that pressure on yourself.”

Now, here are some things that have helped me.
One, financially I looked at all my tools and memberships and looked at what am I not using right now and canceled it.
I also bought some tools for better engagement. I finally invested in the premium version of Chatra which is a chat-bot on my website and actually having it there and being online, made me a few hundred dollars extra because people were able to send me really quick messages about booking a strategy.
I’ve been doing a lot of social things online. I’m definitely fairly introverted, but while you are feeling alone and isolated, I think it’s even more important to be as social as you can digitally.
And I’ve been really cutting down on the amount of news, and that includes social media scrolling I’m consuming. I’ve also been really aware of my own priorities- What I’m actually working on right now, what’s actually the most important thing. So, I’m going back to my plans and my marketing and reprioritizing.
So, go create a list of things that work for you like I told you my list here. And if you want to have me in your ear every morning for two minutes with my tips on business growth revenue and visibility then check out my CEO Quest.
