17: Jordan Gill: Systems Can Save You
You are in for a treat today because I’m speaking to Jordan Gill from “Systems Saved Me. You may know her from her pineapple escapades on Instagram or her podcast “Systems Saved Me”. One thing I really like about Jordan is that she has a very unique approach when it comes to marketing and her strategy. One thing we dive in is her very unique and highly specific approach to get targeted high-end clients. We also talk about systems and how they can save you.
Nothing in your business is really “set it and forget it”. Think about your branding – how many times have people changed their logos, changed their websites, etc. As entrepreneurs, we adapt to change, we are innovators, we love to change and adapt and try something new. When it comes to systems- can they change or can they stay the same? It depends, there are some parts that you don’t need to change, that are streamlined and ready to go. And then there are others (like content management) where you have to adapt and change. So, there’s both sides of it, you are not changing all your systems all the time, but if you’re changing your offerings, if you’re changing the way you’re doing content your systems are going to change.
You have to see how your business can truly support you and that’s where systems come into place. They are not here to suffocate, they’re not here to put boundaries up. They’re literally here to support you for when you are human, when you are forgetful and tired and all of those things that come up. Have the systems in place so that it’s not affecting your clients, it’s not affecting your collaborations, not affecting your business.

“ They are not here to suffocate, they’re not here to put boundaries up. They’re literally here to support you for when you are human, when you are forgetful and tired and all of those things that come up.”
– Jordan Gill
When it comes to her method of selling, Jordan does what is called back-end-selling. So, you will never see her on her Instagram page or on her Facebook or her email list, saying- “Hey I’ve got intensives open, three left!”; or “I have a VIP weekend in April”. She sells through a referral partner program that she created and she really focuses on relationships, and that is where her clients come from. In 2017 she started to really focus on events specifically, and to find these referral partners and to connect with them because she knew that they were the ones that were on stage or they were the ones in the crowd. She only attended events with business coaches, marketing coaches and social media coaches. And that’s where she really recognized the power of connection and relationship and that has been how she’s done all of her back end selling, through her referral partners. She knew that people are on Instagram saying “Oh my back-end-selling is so messy” to their business coaches, marketing coaches and social media coaches. And she knew that those same coaches would refer their clients to her.
Jordan’s way of getting clients online is mostly guest podcasting. Several times when she did guest podcasting, she’s gotten VIP incentives and VIP weekends.
Sometimes you have to be the trailblazer, and sometimes you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable and stepping out there and taking the road less traveled. If you want to try something new, try it and don’t be afraid to go a little crazy. You have to be a little bit crazy in the beginning and be able to see the actual opportunity that you have. And not enough people are doing that, they just kind of go- “Oh, this is how Denise is doing it, so I’m just going to do it the same way.
Take a StrengthsFinder assessment. It’s an assessment that helps identify the areas where you (or team if being used in that context) have the greatest potential for building strength. It’s a really good assessment for messaging but also for your confidence and moving forward and the different offerings or collaborations in your business.

Maggie
